The Soul Sessions Sound Crew is throwing a benefit session for our brothers and sisters in the Pacific Islands recently hammered by devastating typhoons, mass flooding, and earthquakes. Proceeds will go to ADRA (www.adra.org), to fund medical team aid and food delivery.
We will also be collecting non-perishable food items, first aid supplies, over-the-counter medicine, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, clothing, etc. That night, we will be filling and packing Balikbayan boxes with survival essentials for direct shipment to flood victims in the Philippines.

(Saving Ourselves through Sound), as members of the Bay area’s two most famous musical families, 6-time Grammy winner Bonnie Pointer (Pointer Sisters) and Andy Vargas (Lead Vocalist Santana) join forces with the Village Health Foundation for the funkiest “Free Party” to promote preventative herbal medicine, health reform and community empowerment.
October 11th is National Coming Out Day!
In keeping with our theme, the Village Health Foundation and festival organizers will stand in solidarity with the Human Rights Campaign for Marriage Equality. Positive imagery and the acquisition of civil liberties in the gay community are crucial to the fight against HIV/AIDS which is pandemic in urban areas. Those unable to attend the official march on Washington are invited to take part in this event’s festivity.
The Village Health Foundation is also proud to announce the inclusion of The World Famous Jewels’ Catch One Disco and Vegan Village Internet Cafe into the logistics of the festival location! A staple in the Underground and Dance community for over 35 years Jewel’s Catch One Disco has been the premiere performance venue & playground to legendary artists such as: Madonna, Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan, Sandra Bernhard, Sylvester, Patti Labelle and even Pink as well as the original home of “House Music” on the west coast.
Join musical legends along with some of L.A’s hippest underground artists and community activists as they “take it back” to “move you forward” with a retro themed concert & health festival at the Village Health foundation and historical Catch One Disco -Event is FREE!
