Unique74 Remembers Dennis Hopper & Ali Ollie Woodson

Sunday BBQ | The Temptations | Hey Girl (I Like Your Style)

Richard Street OWNS this song..another magnificent vocalist.

Digs 4 2day..

Ski vinyl

I am fighting a serious cold/fever today..But despite it all, I went out promoting with the lovely Dj Lotuspetal and Mixmaster Noah. However, I couldn’t resist a quick run on some digging..here are some of the pieces I picked up today.

Good God | Atlantic | ’72
I had to cop this one due to the fact that the late great Larry Washington is a session player (percussionist of MFSB and countless other Philly Soul gems) and it was recorded at The Legendary Sigma Sounds. This a great Jazz/Rock piece, a must have.

“1982″ | Byron Lee and The Dragonaires | Dynamic | ’82
King of the “Tiny Winey”! Its Byron Lee man, I had to do it!! One of the most instrumental figures behind Reggae/Soca music!! Im a huge fan..check for The Man!

Ilusions On A Double Dimple | Triumvirat | Harvest | ’74
This is a fusion rock jazz piece..this one is wide open. Totally on the bugged out tip.

Wings of Love | The Temptations | Motown | ’76
This record is very special..I believe this was The Tempts last album for Motown. The layering, the Funk..etc. Every track is epic..under the creative direction of the Legendary Jeffrey Bowen and his “ULTRA funky friends”.. Pure Bliss..

Found A Cure 12′ | Ashford and Simpson | WB | ’79
This record is a very uplifting piece that STILL stands out since its debut on the charts of 1979. I love the Dimitri from Paris re-edit but there’s nothing like the original Jimmy Simpson mix.

Members Only: The Temptations | Glasshouse

35 and Better.. U know what it is!! I would love to get my hands on the reels to this song!! Still Stellar! Peep the Unique energy, all fab! This record really makes me miss The Tempations (70′s line up) even more, this was the jam when I was a kid! How lucky were we.

PS: Mr Cornelius has got to be THE best dresser in television, hands down. I was very fortunate to see him a couple weeks ago driving in my neighborhood. Still Sharp as a tack!

Bobby and David..double trouble..

I am a huuugge Bobby Womack and David Ruffin fan to the tenth power..These two cats have got to be the most pure (if you will) vocalists i’ve ever heard.. Recently, I was doing some “digging” and ran into the “Pieces” album and discovered a tune entitled “Trust Your Heart” (dont think there is a re-issue on cd or mp3 on this back catalog release) . This song was the deal sealer for me. I must’ve flipped out when I read Mr. Ruffin’s name on background vocals. I’ve heard of game recognizing game but damn.. David and Bobby on a duet = Brilliant!

MEMBERS ONLY ISH..

David Ruffin shining at his best, performing one of my all time favorites “Statue of a Fool” (which originally was a country song).

3:19 is priceless…3:54 he gives you the business..Give it to em’ D.R.!

In this next clip he peforms “Walk Away From Love” another one of my childhood favorites…his moves and demeanor are priceless.

Such grace and class. He truly was in a class by himself.  Get em’ D.R.!
